In this week’s “1 minute Peppy Parenting” we are going to focus on one feeling; Pride.
Every day we do things that we can be proud of. It doesn’t have to be something we’ve necessarily accomplished. You can be proud of an effort, an improvement, your courage or simply your creativity.
Kids with self-esteem feel good about themselves. They are happy, loved and respected. Being able to feel proud enhances their confidence and helps them have the courage to meet new friends and try new things.
Exercise; Sit down together with your child and explain the meaning of the word proud and give examples of when you have felt this way. Show also what you look like when you are proud.
Ask; When do you feel proud?
- Is it good or bad to be proud?
- How can you help someone to feel proud?
- What does it mean to be proud?
Purpose; To affirm what one likes about oneself
